Meet Maman Loup

Meet Maman LoupMaman Loup means Mommy Wolf in French. I have one little Wolf Cub, and he is the inspiration behind this blog.

Before becoming a Maman, I was already an eco-conscious chatterbox: having Wolf Cub just gave my eco-conscious chattering more focus. I had previously attempted a foray into “green living” blogging, but I think the possibilities were just too vast for me: I didn’t know where to start. And honestly, when I first started up my blog, I gave up because I didn’t know where to start. I had so much to say about balancing my desire to live sustainably and to also be a parent (some might argue that you can’t do both).  I felt like I would never be able to get all of my ideas across succinctly and during the brief intervals of “free time” with a newborn baby.

As has been the case for as long as I can remember, my head just gets way too full if I don’t download some of the kookiness up there either by talking or writing. I remember as a child wishing I could just hook a printer up to my brain so I’d have all my ideas on paper. Instead, I became a ridiculously fast typist. So I came back to my desire to start a blog, and instead of trying to download all of my ideas immediately (since I still don’t have that USB jack installed in the nape of my neck), I let myself start with just one teensy weensy blog post.

My blog is not just about cloth diapering: I like to call what I blog about “Eco-Parenting,” where “Eco” stands for both “Economical” and “Ecological.” Even if you don’t cloth diaper, you can hopefully find useful information here.

Since its modest beginnings in October, 2012, my blog has expanded to include fun giveaways with amazing sponsors, product reviews (both of my own choosing and sponsored) and weekly features like #ClothDiaperCombos, #wasteLESSwednesday and #favourite THINGSfriday. You can check out my work in the Cloth Community here.

My small business as a blogger has also expanded to involve work as a Social Media Manager for a WAHM cloth diaper retailer, Ontario-based brand Funky Fluff and Québec-based brand Oko Creations.

As if that wasn’t enough, I also continue to work as a Freelance Translator from French to English. While I also hold  B.Ed. in high school second-language education, I have put my teaching career on hold to pursue my blog, social media contracts and translation work since I can do all of these from home.

Based in Montréal, Québec since 2008, I’m originally from Surrey, BC. I live with my husband, son and our two cats in a two-bedroom condo that is starting to get a bit crowded!
